The visual identity designed for a joined exhibition titled Vajcom Skalu Neroztrepeš (One Cannot Break a Rock with an Egg) is based on the saying used as a title of the exhibition itself.
The self-curated exhibition held at gallery in the Slovak town Topoľčany featured me and two fellow artists that also share an experience of studying at art school in the Great Britian. The exhibited works ranging from moving image to graphic and textile design, explored common themes of an individual’s relationship to their home country and offered a unique and authentic perspective of Slovak culture, challenging the notions of national identity.
To promote the exhibition we decided to use fresh and fun visuals that are attractive to look at, as well as evoke the sense of wonder in the potential visitors. A 3D model of a broken sparkly combined with a bold serif typography take inspiration from the Y2K trends in graphic design as well as adequately communicate the title of the exhibition itself.
